After many questions about how my Flickr's Blobs series was done, i decided to publish a patch to show the process... Basically, i'm using a very simple displacement shader...The particles are displaced by themselves...nothing more but looks interesting...
If you're a vvvv user you can download the patch here.
Have fun!!

And here a rough video grab that shows a sketch i'm working on : particles are rendered through the displacement shader mentionned above and constrained to a randomly growing 3D-path...

Velvety
I finally took a couple of minutes to capture this velvet version of the vertex noise shader i did some time ago...Short grabs but gives a general idea of the look.

Attractors
Early work and study from a particle system based on attractors...Not very satisfied yet but sometimes the emerging chaos still looks sexy!

Heightmaps
First tests with the heightmaps displacement shader...Using grayscale of a texture to distort vertices from a simple grid...Quite tricky to handle, results are still promising...

SubSurface
Another set of shots showing the subsurface shader technique...This one is different from the previous one...This technique can be used to emulate some skin look...Still work to do on depth calculation...Here the shader is applied to some homemade distorted meshes through vvvv...

NoiseFields
A couple of months ago i've asked Lenny aka Leander Herzog some hints to implement these nice processing noise fields into vvvv...As a vvvv user too, he did a great patch... The version that he provides me was using textured quads...I've reworked it a bit to get more a seamless look...Here are the results, and more here...

Fresh from the shader section
I've recently posted two shaders in the vvvv shader section...Nothing realy new here...mostly code cleaning for faster and easier use and understanding...Both without normal calculation, so it wasn't too tricky to do...
-First the Vertex Noise shader now returns colors positions related to vertex noise distortions, so it works without a texture...Only one technique (compared to the three ones i've put in the previous version) and three transformation input pins... The first one is the main one, the second transforms the grid before the noise function and the third is to handle the noise... The last pin is quite tricky to use, because it doesn't like rotation and such; so be carefull with it..but you can easily chose, for example, to apply noise only on one axis, or on the three at the same time...

-Then, the Surface shader is now available without normal calculation in 6 separated fx files. Hope it makes things easier to use... I'm currently doing the same for the phongdirectional one...
